Finally, they were there. The forest's smells surrounded them, and Lythrian sighed. She had only been away a day, but it was nice to be back.
A few rocks leaned on each other, by a stream, and Lythrian headed towards them. A rock lay on the ground, and she pawed at it until it rolled over, and away, uncovering the food pile. She grabbed a deer leg, and called Medicine Bow over.
"Deer?" She asked. Dropping it on the ground, she serveyed her territory. The bushed made good protection to hide them from enemies, a lonely tree lay, supported by the rocks and it's roots, slightly tilted up. Underneath it's roots, a large hole sat. It would let the pack sleep out of the rain. Lythrian had dug away at the hole, trying to make a more sutable food pile, but hadn't made much progress.
She turned to Bow, and then asked her, "Are you sure your leg is alright?"

Bow admired the area around her. The moist scent of foilage was almost intoxicating. Lythrian tossed her a deer leg. "Oh, Thank!" Bow began to devour the deer leg. It had been awhile since she had eaten and deer had never tasted better. Then Lythrian asked about the leg. "Oh, it's fine. It tastes really good." Suddenly Bow blushed realizing her mistake. "Oh, you mean my leg. It should be fine after a day's rest. After all I am a healer." Bow laughed a little at her mistake. She looked out across the trees and rocks and sighed. "It's good to be home."

"Your welcome" said Lythrian. "The deer around here tastes extra good...since there is so much good grazing and foliage for them to eat."
Lythrian laughed at Bow's mistake, but jokingly, not mean. "Okay, that's good. I hate to see a wolf in pain." She grimaced, then returned Bow's laugh with a smile.
Lythrian sighed as well, then said, "Yes, it is nice to be home. This place is a wonderful spot, and it seems to grow on you. I don't think I would be able to leave it without returning. Even traveling to find someone who would join made me homesick."
Then, Lythrian had an idea. What if a howl could be heard all the way at the place she had found Medicine Bow?
Turning to Bow, she said, "I just had an idea. What if a howl could be heard all the way where I found you? I wouldn't have to leave. No, maybe not one howl, but two. Maybe, we could howl to tell a loner to come to the forest...." She trailed off, then threw back her head, and let out a howl, which to all wolves meant that a pack leader was letting loners join. Hoping her howl would carry to the loner's, she waited to see if anyone responded, or Medicine Bow joined in.

Bow closed her eyes and felt the forest around her. "I can understand how you got homesick." Bow listened to Lythrians idea. It wasn't a bad idea. Bow joined in with her own melodious howl and waited, listening. The loner's were still very far away. Would they hear?

"Maybe we should try again," said Lythrian, "I hope someone heard us." Yet again, the white wolf started up a howl, the same calling type as before.

Bow nodded and followed along. She hoped this would work. It would be nice to have more members in the pack.

Akina picked her way slowly across the forest floor. The other two wolves were right in front of her. She gazed at their whitish coats and stepped out in front of them. "My name is Akina," she said shyly, "I heard your howls. May I join your pack?"

It had worked! The wolf stood infront of Medicine Bow and Lythrian, and had sandy-grey fur with black stripes. Hmm, odd coloring, she thought. "Welcome! Yes, of course you can join!" She smiled, "I am Lythrian, the alphess of this pack. This is Medicine Bow, the healer." She nodded her head in Bow's direction, then looked back towards Akina. "It's a pretty new pack, so there aren't very many pack members yet. We are still trying to find more, and with our newest technique of howling to the loners, we shall get our numbers up fast! Are you hungry? We have lots of food stored." She turned, then headed towards the food pile, still uncovered, the rock lying not too far away.

Bow smiled at the other wolves. She was impressed that their technique actually worked. Who would have thought? Akina had such unusual coloring. Bow was in awe and she couldn't help smiling when Lythrian headed towards the food pile. She was a really good hostess and alphess.

Akina smiled shyly at the other two wolves. "It's ok. I'm not really hungry. Thanks for the offer though." Akina stepped up slowly and admired the forest around her. "This place is beautiful. How long have you been here?"

ooc:I think we need to introduce a plot...
ic: "I only found it about a day ago." She looked around happily. "If you don't mind me asking, Akina, but why are you a loner?" Lythrian liked to what pack members were before being loners.

ooc: Good plan. Any ideas? ic: Bow turned her focus to Akina. It was always interesting to hear why a wolf was alone. "Go ahead and tell us, we don't judge." Bow smiled encouragingly.

Akina bowed her head embarassed. She thought about Bow's comment. 'We don't judge'. She felt she could tell them a little bit at least. "I'm different looking and I ran away. No one wanted to accept me until now." Akina sighed feeling a little silly.

Lythrian nodded seriously. "All of us here are...used to be loners. Sure, your different, but that probably helps you hunt better." She grinned, then settled back onto her haunches.

A grey wolf, covered in scars, came running onto the scene. When he saw the three wolves sitting there in the clearing, he slowed down and sat down a little ways away from there. He sat there for a few akward moments then said gruffly, "...Sorry. Didn't mean to innterupt. ...I guess...I'll just leave." He got up and started to limp his way out of the clearing, but as soon as he was at the edge, he turned around quickly and shoved out of his mouth, "Can I join your pack?" Ahhh. Too late. Now he had to stay, if they accepted him. But hey! He could use the interaction, plus he wouldn't be much of a bother anyways, not being a big talker and all... Well he'll just wait and see.
